Hello Blossoms and Buttercups! The Spring Equinox is the time when we move out of the dark and welcome back the light. It is a time of balance between light and dark, yin and yang. It is the day when we have both equal hours of light and darkness (this only happens one other time of the year – on the day of the Autumnal Equinox). What a special time this is and a great reminder for us to welcome more balance into our lives as the Wheel of the Year turns yet again. New life is all around us with the rebirth of Spring! I drew these cards to help us embrace the light and dark within ourselves.
I can’t say enough how synchronistic it was that this was the very first card to fall out while I was shuffling the deck and thinking about this topic. How perfect is that?! Lady Justice weighs her scales. It reminds me of Ma’at (the Egyptian goddess of truth, balance, harmony, and justice) weighing your heart against a feather to see which was lighter. How heavy is your heart? Is it light as a feather or is it weighed down by grief, anger, and disappointment? Are you using your head too much and not listening enough to the beating of your heart? Invite harmony in. Justice reminds us that there will always be good and bad, light and dark, birth and death – for that is the way of the world. When you close your eyes and block out distractions it is easier to find where you need to regain balance in your life and in your body. It is a very delicate act and may need constant attention until you can learn how to do it with your eyes closed. Be careful not to cut out things in your life that need truly need your attention due to fear or a shaky sense of confidence.
2. The High Priestess
Our intuition is heightened and any magical workings or manifestations will be enhanced on this equally yoked day of the year. Take some time on the days leading up to the equinox to meditate on where you can gain more balance in your life. As you go about your day, listen to that tiny voice of your Higher Self (not the big booming voice of Ego) and see where s/he says ‘you could use some healing time alone with your crystals instead of eating the ice cream because technically this pint of Chunky Monkey and binge watching Netflix won’t truly make you feel better deep down.’ Or maybe there is a situation that you feel isn’t right or you have a hunch that something is up because the energy around it just feels off. Listen to that feeling! The High Priestess reminds us to look at things that deep down we know are unhealthy for us. If we feel confused about which way to go, she guides us in the darkness by asking us to look within for the answer. She encourages us to listen to our inner voice and find a self loving alternative. She is also a reminder that all that is in the dark will eventually come to the light.
3. Seven of Wands
Sometimes we need to take a break from constant comparison of ourselves to others and the need to be on defense. Appreciate who you are. The differences in our spirits, appearances, opinions, strengths, and weaknesses are what make us unique. If all musical notes were the same, could we still call it music? How boring is a song with just one note? There would be no highs and lows, no melody, no favorite ‘break it down now’ moment to your favorite song! How boring would that make life? The different frequencies and energies of our souls help the world to change, flow, and create the sweet melodies that we call our lives. Don’t always worry about doing or being better than someone else, sometimes you just need to do better than you did yesterday, and other times it is perfectly okay to just be where you’re currently at in the musical scale of life – right now, in this moment. You are worthy ALL the time!
4. Nine of Cups
Incorporate more happiness and positivity into your daily life! The cold dark nights of winter are over. Allow yourself the hope of Spring and rebirth! You’ve spent time planting seeds and now it is time to watch them blossom and grow. Wish, hope, dream, fantasize about your desires. By visualizing them and feeling the happiness that comes with those thoughts, it makes it easier to manifest. Think about how during the winter we can’t wait for warmer weather. It seems so far away and then it is as if overnight BAM! spring has sprung. There are flowers starting to peak their heads through the dirt, the grass is starting to turn green, and the birds chirp the most beautiful song. Color comes back to the world! This is a reminder that things take time to manifest, to germinate, to grow. Feel the excitement and the anticipation! Even on the darkest days, remember the promise of spring.
5. Six of Pentacles
Share! Give and receive. This is about equal energy exchange. Give as much as you’re getting. Don’t be stingy – pay it forward! Work with others and learn the importance of teamwork, networking, and compromise. There should be a healthy balance between what you are giving and what you are receiving. Don’t allow yourself to be taken advantage of. You don’t want to burn out or become resentful from constantly giving yourself to others and not refilling your own cup! I also think this speaks to the need for us to have gratitude for what we have as well as giving back to those who give so much to us – even if we don’t ask for it! This card is about being a partner and building the resources you have in your relationships. You are a co-creator in your life and with the Universe. Be open to receiving these blessings!
6. Ten of Swords
Let go of feelings of loss and betrayal. Realize that from death new life springs forth! Try to think more positively about your past and the things you have gone through. Take the lessons and leave the rest. Don’t constantly keep yourself in the turmoil and anguish by reliving the events and holding on to anger. Transmute the pain into forgiveness and freedom. You can reach new heights of clarity and understanding by accepting the hurtful situations you’ve been through. Use them as stepping stones to help you realize what you want to bring more of into your life. You can rise above the pain, sorrow, and mental anguish of past hurts. Spring reminds us a new day is dawning for all those who weep!
The main theme for us this Spring is to Embrace – change, love, balance, rebirth, and new beginnings. Embrace the healing that can come to our soul this time of year. Embrace the spirit renewal, revival, and rejuvenation that comes with Spring. It is easier to welcome the lively, loving, peaceful, and awe inspiring beauty of Spring when we embrace all the change that comes with it. If we resist, it will be harder for this energy to touch our spirits. Wakeup, hear the birds chirp, and allow the comforting dewy light of this season to enfold you. Embrace positivity and allow it to embrace you.
Stay gorgeous lovely one!
