Here is a list of my all time favorite ways of grounding energy. I hope this list helps you when you’re feeling anxious, worried, stressed, having trouble coming down off an intensely high vibe meditation, or have been unable to get out of your daydreams and live in the present moment. 1. Essential Oils/Aromatherapy
This is the first way I learned how to ground when the whole idea of “grounding” was still pretty new to me. Scent is a great way to bring you into the present moment. Grounding scents like patchouli, pine, or cedar (anything that smells earthy) are helpful when it comes to calming your energy and bringing you back to center. Stick some in your bag and take it on the go. Inhale the fragrance whenever you’re feeling anxious or are feeling ungrounded like before heading in to work or during stressful situations.
2. Roots into the Earth
This is my favorite (and probably the most convenient) way to ground! You don’t need anything but your imagination. Envision tree roots coming out of your feet or the base of your spine and burrowing deep into the Earth beneath you. Wrap these roots around a rock or something else deep within the Earth. Send healing energy up through these roots and into your body. Visualization is a powerful tool – and you can do this one anytime, anywhere.
3. Hug a Tree!
Ya, I know, some of you may make fun of the idea of a “tree hugger” but this is a perfect way to ground! Wrap your arms around a tree, place your feet on the roots if they’re visible (barefoot is best), and synch your energy with the tree’s. I always ask the tree for permission first out of respect. It is a great way to connect with nature and this is also one of my favorite ways to ground. It just feels so good!

Crystals and Stones bring to us so many gifts! One of those gifts is grounding. Stones like Hematite and Petrified Wood have metaphysical properties that are tailored for grounding energy! 5. Walk Barefoot Outside
Take off your shoes, socks, or sandals, step outside, and put your bare feet in the grass. Feel the dirt between your toes! We are made of earth, so what better way to ground is there than having skin to skin contact with the Earth herself? This method called “earthing” also removes negative ions from our feet which we build up as we go about our day. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to just lay on the grass and just be. It’s a great way to reconnect with Mother Earth.
6. Eat/Drink Something
Sometimes when we are too in our higher chakras or we are having trouble coming back into our physical body, like after an intense mediation for example, drinking water or having something to munch on can definitely help to ground your energy back into your body.
7. Do Something Physical
Dancing, singing, exercising, cooking, cleaning, and even having sex can all be ways to ground yourself. Since grounding has to do with the physical body, getting the physical body moving can be a great way to become present in your body, in the moment.
